About the Show

Five months after the events of Code Lyoko: Evolution, the government is seeking to abolish the force responsible for the malevolent artificial intelligence (multi-agent system) X.A.N.A. After shutting down Project Carthage, the government decides to reopen this old sanction as a new task force named Eradication, in order to track down Lowell Tyron and find the creator of X.A.N.A.

As Lowell is known as Franz’s final associate, Tyron is recruited under special circumstances even though he abandoned Carthage and did his own research. The government then gives him funding to re-create the Cortex, and, by doing so, Tyron sets X.A.N.A. free once again. Tyron then creates a unstoppable tracing software in order to locate digital DNA to rematerialize Franz Hopper. Jeremy and his team, while continuing to search for Aelita’s long-lost mother, make a discovery that may finally annihilate X.A.N.A. for good, though it also leads them straight into the Men in Black. Caught in a battle between clashing forces, the Lyoko Warriors are now subject to being hunted by not only Tyron, but by the government as well.

The Story So Far

Season 1

Season 1

The first season of the series focuses more on character development rather than plot development, only revealing details about the plot in its last few episodes. In the majority of the episodes, the group would discover a X.A.N.A. attack, fight against it, and stop it just in time. During these episodes, the show focuses on deepening the relationships between the Lyoko Warriors as well as other students, teachers, parents and relatives. While fighting X.A.N.A. with the team everyday, Jeremie is also working on a program to materialize so they could bring Aelita into the real world, turn off the supercomputer, and destroy X.A.N.A. once and for all.

Season 2

Season 2

The second season of Code Lyoko not only further developed the characters’ personalities and relationships, but also introduced many new characters, such as William, new places, such as Sector 5, and new vehicles. After discovering Aelita’s link to the supercomputer, the group is unable to defeat X.A.N.A. the way they had originally planned to. While the group fights X.A.N.A.’s ever-growing strength Jeremie works hard to find new and better ways to fight X.A.N.A. With Aelita’s constant flashbacks of the Hermitage and the introduction of the mysterious Franz Hopper, the team starts to uncover her true identity and the history of Lyoko itself.

Season 3

Season 3

A brand new school year begins. Back from their relatively quiet two-week summer vacation, the Lyoko Warriors quickly find themselves back at war with X.A.N.A. The artificial intelligence, having escaped into the World Wide Web, has raised the stakes with a new strategy of attack: Wipe Lyoko off the digital map. Throughout the season, X.A.N.A. attempted to destroy the sectors multiple times by possessing Aelita and having her enter the Code: X.A.N.A. into each way tower. In addition, X.A.N.A. also tried a more direct approach — by destroying a huge white sphere located in a yet undiscovered chamber in Sector 5 directly below the arena of Carthage: the Core of Lyoko. If Lyoko were to disappear, the Lyoko Warriors wouldn’t have any way to stop X.A.N.A.’s attacks anymore. To match up to X.A.N.A.’s ever-strengthening attacks, the Lyoko Warriors added William to his team. Despite their efforts, however, X.A.N.A. eventually succeeds, and Lyoko is destroyed, along with William trapped in it.

Season 4

Season 4

After the Core of Lyoko is destroyed, the group searches for a way to rebuild Lyoko once more. After working for days and nights, Jeremie and Aelita announce that they have successfully rebuilt Sector 5. Though the group is ecstatic that they able to fight X.A.N.A. again, they are also worried about William and how he was lost in the Digital Sea after Lyoko was destroyed. Finding no way to explain William’s disappearance to the school, Jeremie creates a clone of him in order to prevent suspicion. A few days, however, William mysteriously returns — though this was simply a plot by X.A.N.A. to capture and kill Aelita, in order to lure out Franz Hopper. The Lyoko Warriors, after realizing that William is completely under X.A.N.A.’s control, now have to think of a way not only to hunt X.A.N.A. down on the network, but also to rescue William. To aid them on their journey, Jeremies programs a virtual ship — the Skidbladnir — that allows the Lyoko Warriors to travel through the digital sea, and they discover what X.A.N.A. has been doing while roaming free on the network. With the use of Replikas, X.A.N.A. has been controlling other supercomputers around the world in order to create an army of robots and destroy humanity. With William’s parents becoming suspicious of their son’s strange behavior and everyone’s lives at stake, the Lyoko Warriors are faced with their most difficult task yet.

Season 5

Season 5

One year after the events of the fourth season, Jeremie Belpois, Odd Della Robbia, Ulrich Stern, Yumi Ishiyama and Aelita Schaeffer are settling down to their daily lives and routines at Kadic Academy. The peace doesn’t last long, however, and they soon discover that their old virtual enemy, X.A.N.A., has returned — with even more strength and power than ever before. The Lyoko Warriors resume their former double lives in order to protect humanity from X.A.N.A.’s evil schemes once again. Joined by William Dunbar, who has finally been accepted as the sixth Lyoko Warrior, and an unreliable genius named Laura Gauthier, the seven heroes are bent on unraveling the reasons for such a return and to exterminate the malevolently evil sentient, autonomous artificial intelligence that is threatening the world once again.
